The World Series of Poker Online cancelled its $250 Mystery Bounty tournament after “technical difficulties” gave players who made the second day restart of the day fits.

While some players were completely locked out of the online room, others were able to compete in different tournaments on the site even as the $250 Mystery Bounty event was on its way to cancellation during its second-day restart where a top bounty of $100,000 was up for grabs.
WSOP Online took to their socials with this:
“Today’s restart of Online Bracelet Event #7 encountered technical difficulties which resulted in a high number of players unable to log in for the tournament. Therefore the tournament has been cancelled and all players who were in the field on the start of Day 2 will be contacted.”
Multiple flights for the $250 Mystery Bounty took place every day since the Series started May 31, and nearly 7,000 players attempted to make it to yesterday’s second day, when the bounty prizes kicked-in.
To further complicate matters, the top bounty of $100,000 was reportedly pulled before the event was canned. That player, “DaSurrealist,” and others players who happened to pull a bounty before the tournament crashed will receive their prizes, but as the site’s Terms of Serive says the remaining players will evenly split the remaining equity evenly, no matter if they were leading the whole tournament, or were hanging on by a couple blinds.
This will be updated once WSOP Online releases more information.
WSOP Online is in the middle of three different series — the MEGA Circuit, an Online Championship slate, and the bracelet events. The site recently hooked its players located in Pennsylvania to those in New Jersey, Michigan, and Nevada, and the migration has gone smoothly until yesterday.
It didn’t seem like any other event was affected on the site, although players reported that they were unable to access the tables because of a geolocation glitch.
The WSOP Online bracelet race continues until July 15.
UPDATE:
Here’s WSOP Online’s email it sent to players involved:
“As you may know, unfortunately, the restart of Online Bracelet Event #7 (the ‘Event’) encountered connectivity issues, which resulted in a high number of players being unable to log in for the Event.
With around 60% of the player field being unable to connect and play in the Event, the World Series of Poker determined the disruption severely impacted the integrity of the game and made the difficult decision to suspend and ultimately cancel the Event. As a result, the play on Day 2 is considered null and void, and as such, we have decided an Online Bracelet will not be awarded for this Event, and play in the Event will not count towards our Online Bracelet Leaderboard.
We understand and apologize for the disappointment and frustration our players are experiencing. In keeping with our commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and treating players fairly, we are compensating all 1,100 players who restarted Day 2 of the $250 Online Bracelet Event #7.
? All player investments in the Event will be returned to their bankrolls.
? All players who pulled bounties or cashed in the Event will keep their prize money.
? The remaining prize pool will be distributed in a way we believe upholds the integrity of the game and is the fairest and most respectful to the spirit of the competition.
Finally, we are contributing an additional $550,000 in compensation to players by awarding each of the 1,100 players affected a $500 tournament ticket, valid for one year. This ticket can be used for any $500 WSOP Online tournament, including the $1,000,000 guaranteed Mystery Bounty Online Bracelet Event on June 22.
In accordance with the above compensation structure, in the next 48 hours, your account will be credited appropriately. We will also credit your account with the $500 tournament ticket.
We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience.
See you at the tables,
The WSOP Online Team”
